Home Air Conditioners
Home air conditioners are considered by many as a necessity today and for good reason. The feeling of a cool home
after being outside all day is second to none.
Most homes come with some type of air conditioning unit. Deciding between home air conditioners can be an
overwhelming task due to the fact that there are many different models and styles available. However, there are 4 main types of air
conditioner units.
Central Air
Conditioner – Probably the most well know of all home air conditioners is the central air unit. These units have replaced most of the old
window units due to the fact that is much more practical. This is because central air has a vent that is going to every room in the house,
office, or building. The air gets sucked in through the air handler then the air reaches the vents in other rooms and such through air ducts.
Central air systems also have an advantage over the window unit because it operates much quieter, since the condenser that is the noisiest
part of a central air system is located outside.
Window Unit Air
Conditioner – For those homes that do not have existing duct work already installed in the home, the most cost feasible chose would be to
go with a window unit for your home air conditioners needs. These types of units are easy to install and are very inexpensive when it comes to
cost per BTU of cooling. However, there are a few drawbacks. Due to the fact that these home air conditioners are installed in the window,
they are only capable of heating or cooling a single room. While this is fine if the house is rather small, for a larger home you will need to
install more window units.
Wall Mounted Air
Conditioners – These types of home air conditioners are very similar to window units. The only real difference is that these units are
mounted on the wall, which is an added benefit as you do compromise your window views. These home air conditioners are permanently mounted in
a wall by attaching a metal sleeve through the wall and sliding in the AC chassis from inside. Wall-mounted units also come in cooling-only or
cooling/heating varieties.
Portable Air
Conditioner - The primary purpose why people tend to buy portable air conditioners is for the flexibility that they offer their owners.
These portable home air conditioners are mobile and usually come with wheels attached so moving from room to room is easy. Typically, these
units come with either one or two tubes to exhaust heat out of a window or through an opening in a wall.
There are a variety of home air conditioners to choose from depending on your wants and needs. Use this site as a
